Sennder Taking On Freight-Forwarding With $70M Worth Of Funding

Logistics is one of the older, less-understood parts of the commercial world. But with Amazon proving that logistics is worth the effort and investment, and many other companies proving how hard it hits to ignore logistics, many businesses across the world are looking to enter the logistics business.

Berlin-based Sennder, recently announced a round of funding, which they report will be for the digitization and modernization of the antiquated logistics market with a digital platform. Reports surrounding the FTL Dedicated Truckload Freight company’s Series C funding round say that they brought in approximately $70mn.

The funding was led by Lakestar, with several other firms like Accel, H14, Next46, HV Holtzbrinck Ventures, Project A, and even Scania Growth Capital, investing in the startup. Notably, it’s the second round of funding that Sennder ran in 2019, with a Series B financial round earlier in Spring. This investing shows the interest of investors in logistics, which is currently estimated to sit at a value of $400bn in Europe.

Other major funding rounds in the trucking industry include other companies that handle FTL Dedicated Truckload Freight, competing with Sennder in their niche, like US’s Flexport receiving an investment of $3.2bn, the UK’s Zencargo raising $20mn, among others.

This shows how crowded the market really is, and where corporate specializations come into play. For Sennder, they specialize in the FTL Dedicated Truckload Freight market, aimed at the organization, logging and optimization of cargo, with a particular focus on smaller and mid-sized companies.

In Europe alone, that particular sector is estimated to be worth around $120bn. As with other startups, Sennder hopes to bring cloud-based communication and improved tracking and record keeping, as well as better logistical organization to the trucking industry, which has been operating mostly with faxed or shipped invoices, among other archaic methods.

Sennder co-founder David Nothacker states that they’ve pooled together the knowledge that he and the other co-founders acquired, with the goal of improving operations in the trucking industry. South Australia Takes A Long Time To Process Wills

The Supreme Court Chief Justice said that it will be worth it since after the online system has been established the processing of the services will be faster than before. For the meantime, grieving families are asked to be more patient.

An announcement has already been released by the probate registry starting the middle of September because their applications will just be included in the delay. This means that estate management for people who passes away since August will have to wait until next year.

Not all of the estates are required to have probate grant coming from the Supreme Court but there are institutions such as land titles office, nursing homes and banks that need these documents before they can release the assets that are entitles to the person who passed away.

Joan Sedsman, the chairman of the Succession Law Committee of Law Society, said that this process is quite unfair and it adds burden to those who are already grieving. It makes it harder for everyone involved while those who are not financially capable might struggle in the process.

Ms. Sedsman voiced the distress it has caused to her widowed client who is hoping to move to a new place before the holiday comes but since the freeze was put in place there is nothing they could do. Starbucks CEO Retiring, Looking To Philanthropy And Public Service

Back in 2016, Schultz showed his support and endorsed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Back then, he had already been receiving inquiries as to whether or not he would run for office. He has deflected such inquiries in the past, but has stated in an interview that, for quite a while now, he has been concerned about the state of the US, specifically, the division plaguing the country and its standing in the world.

Schultz’ retirement comes not long after he passed on the day-to-day duties of Starbucks CEO back in 2016, in order to focus on corporate social responsibility, innovating and social-impact endeavors in his position as Executive Chairman.

According to Starbuck, Schultz will officially step down and take the position of Chairman Emeritus on the 26th of June. Starbucks says that Myron E. Ullman will take over the role of Chairman of the Board, once Schultz steps down.

Newlywed Couples Reveal Spending Regrets During Wedding

Zola, a wedding planning website, recently published their 2018 Wedding Planning Survey which aims to educate first time brides of the spending regrets of newlywed couples. Weddings are expensive affair regardless of the budgeting and the planning ahead. The challenge for first time brides is that they don’t know which factor they should spend money on and which ones are okay to miss out on. For the survey, Zola invited more than 750 newlyweds to participate. This will help them plan whether to get a wedding coordinator in Sydney or spend the money somewhere else.

According to the survey there are three most common regrets of couples during wedding planning.

  • More than a third of couples or 35 per cent regretted not hiring a videographer for their big day.
